Provo grade school's presentation "The Shepherds' Christmas". Approximately 225 pupils
took part in the pageant, the above group consisting of second, third and fourth graders.
Directing the play was Miss Bowker, assisted by Mrs. Aderholt, Mrs. Little and Mrs. Gayhart.
Fourth Grader Amy Johnson was the student director. The play was presented for the public in
the Provo High School Auditorium last Friday morning.

The theme of the grade school Christmas Program, to be held at the High School Auditorium at 9:15 this morning, is "Living Pictures of Christmas Music" and the annual presentation will be ushered in with the choral reading, "Twas The Night Before Christmas" with Clarence Richardson as Santa Claus, and James Resseguie and D. Dappen as the children. Choral readers will be Joan Catlett, Judy Schook, Diane Drapeau, Benje Segura, Cathy Schmidt, Heather Tinsley, Judith Massery, Linda Hedglin, Diana Thomas and Cherry Robb.

1953 - The Walrus; Dec. 18, 1953; Vol. 2 No. 51; page 8; Kindergarten Kids Strut Stuff In Christmas Program Igloo's little tots "strutted their hour upon the stage" Tuesday afternoon and wednesday morning, and performed like seasoned veterans of the theatre during the presentation of the Kindergarten Christmas program.
Teachers of the very small fry, Mrs. Jean Heer and Mrs. Dorothy Garvis put the afternoon youngsters thru their paces on Tuesday afternoon and the morning classes on Wednesday at 9:15.
Both programs were the same with Toy Band, Brownies in Santa's Workship, Dolls in the Toy Shop, The Christmas Pie and The Real Christmas.
The petit performers in the Tuesday production who depicted Dolls in the Toy Shop were: Vallera Thorstad, Susan Whestone, Joyce Forney, Sharon Boltz, Connie Barritt, Marie Herman, Wanda Moldenhauer, Arlie Farrell, Shelley Purinton, Diane Pourier, Donna Rae Parks and Margaret Burnison. Well, what do you know? It's SANTA HISSELF! Little Daveen Graybeal of Igloo experiences that greatest of
juvenile thrills - meeting the fabulous, red-robed, bewhiskered old gent that's just the greatest guy ever!
At a children's Christmas party this week, given by the BHOD Veterans Club in their Igloo club rooms, photogenic
Daveen was one of 1042 youngsters who took advantage of the magnanimity of old Santa - and the Vets Club.
Daveen, who is two, is the daughter of Mr. and Mr. Jay E. Graybeal.
1953 - The Walrus; Dec. 25, 1953; Vol. 2 No. 52; page 2; Versatile Firemen Help Santa Make Needy Kids Happy Members of the local Fire Department becam Santa's helpers this week as they repaired toys for Igloo children. Don DuBois, "chief helper", said then firefighters were spending their off duty time on the project which would net over fifty-five toys for Christmas baskets being distributed by the Community Chest. Baskets have been distributed to 23 needy families of depot workers.
Toys were donated by Igloo residents to the Fire Department employees who volunteered to undertake the project.

These cute little guys and
gals made their concert debut at the kindergarten Christmas program last week. Under the capable direction of the
kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Victor Garvis, the future Philharmonic stars, equipped with drum sticks, bells and tamborines,
presented their cacophonous, but rhythmic, version of "Jingle Bells" and other festive yuletide tunes. Lacking a brass section,
the melody was supplied by kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Edgar Heer. The program which also featured dances and tableaux,
was thoroughly enjoyed by the tots' proud mamas.

1953 - The Walrus; Dec. 25, 1953; Vol. 2 No. 52; page 3; The Gals In 105 Toss Party In Dorm Lounge; The girls in Barracks 105 enjoyed a Christmas party on Wednesday evening in the lounge of the Dormitory. Christmas decorations added to the festivities of the occasion and after an exchange of gifts colorful refreshments were served. This was followed by singing of Christmas carols by the group.

Like other groups of BHOD employees, the members of the Custodial Section started plans for a Christmas party when Enoch E. Carlson hit upon an idea that will undoubtedly bring much more happiness to the group than a party. Enoch suggested that each member of the unit give $2.00 and present the total of $24 to the West River Crippled Children's Hospital in Hot Springs toward a Christmas party for the Polio Center's striken kids. Shown above is Carlson handing the donations to John B. Sweeney, Civilian Executive Assistant, for transmittal to the hospital. Looking on are, left to right, Judd C. Robinson, supervisor; Robert A. Santa Claus is coming to town. The Igloo "Vets" Club announced today that Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the Vets Club on Tuesday 21 December 1954. He will be on hand to greet the pre-school children at 1:15 and he is expecting a good sized gathering from these youngsters. Kindergarten children and children in grades one through four will be greeted by Santa the same afternoon, and he is busy making arrangements with the teachers of those respective grades for the time when they are to come to the club. So just don't forget kiddies that Santa will be around to see you and give each of you one of his "goody" treats next Tuesday at the Vets Club.
------------------------------Santa Claus has included the BHOD Officer's Open Mess in his pre-season activities with one visit completed and one more scheduled.
Last Sunday St. Nick visited with club members's children, taking letters, listening to requests and just getting acquainted with the youngsters. About 80 children took advantage of the opportunity to talk with Santa.
The next Sunday two children's parties will be held at the Officers Club. From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., club member's children of pre-school age and those in grades one through four will be entertained with games, food and presents from Santa.
An evening party from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., is scheduled for members children and their guests in the fifth through eighth grades. Entertainment will include games, dancing and refreshments.
------------------------------President Frank Martinez and Program Chairman, George Fletcher of the Igloo Kiwanis Club announced today that final plans have been made with Santa Claus for his annual visit with grade school and pre-school children.
This big event for the kiddies will be held on Friday afternoon, December 24, at the Post Theater.
Activities will get under way with a free movie for the children, and then Santa Claus and his helpers will distribute Santa Claus treats to them. Starting time is announced as 2:15 p.m.

Santa Claus brought a multitude of joy to approzimately 700 children when he appeared at the

December 21. From the "ooooh's" and "aaaah's" heard while the jolly old gent was busy distributing
treats to the children we know
that the treats were really appreciated by the small fry.

Saint Nick's helper at the Vets Club visit was Bill Hotchkiss who aided in passing out 800 sacks. The Walrus; Vol. III No. 53; Dec. 31, 1954; page 1; Community Chest And Fire fighters Give Santa A Lift; The BHOD Community Chest helped Santa make forty-six Igloo youngsters happy over the holidays.
Toys were distributed to this number by the Chest from an array of toys repaired by the depot Fire Department. The Community Chest also distributed eleven baskets to needy Igloo families.
The Hot Srings Crippled Children's Hospital also benefited from the Firefighters work as six tricycles, one wagon, one auto car and three boxes of small toys were sent there.
The Community Chest Fund is supported by the contributions of local residents during the annual United Charities Drive.
The Christmas distribution committee included, Jim Stewart, Chest Chairman, Don DuBois, Oscar Krebs, Chet Nafziger and the recreational assistants at the Community Building.

Dec. 24, 1954; Vol. 3 No. 52; page 5; Santa Distributes Gifts At BHOD Officers' Club; Santa Claus had a busy afternoon at the Officers Club, last Sunday as 101 youngsters received pre-Christmas presents.
The afternoon party started with games for the various age groups and finished with the rumbling of dump trucks, the beating of drums, the banging of pistols and other assorted sounds made by the toys that St. Nick distributed.
Sunday evening the fifth through eighth grade set took over the club for their annual party. Forty-eight boys and girls attended with games, dancing and food as the main attractions.
