Mrs. Dolores Dees, formerly of Wisconsin Ave. in Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday morning, January 12, 2006, at Harbor House Memory Care in De Forrest, WI. She was 78 years old.
Dolores was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 15, 1927, oldest daughter of George and Rose Banish Skroch. The family moved to South Dakota soon after, and Dolores graduated from high school in Igloo, SD in 1944. She went on to nursing college in Denver, CO, graduating in May of 1947.
On May 8, 1948 she was united in marriage with Carl P. Dees at St. James Catholic Church in Edgemont, SD. The couple moved to Wisconsin and settled in Cedar Grove to raise their family.
Mrs. Dees worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan, St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan and finally as the nurse for Dr. James Jensen in Cedar Grove, retiring in the mid 1980's.
Her husband preceded her in death on May 26, 1983. Mrs. Dees was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. She enjoyed making ceramics, collected music-boxes and was an avid reader. She liked spending time outdoors and with family, especially family get-togethers with all of the relatives.
She is survived by her children David Dees of Madison and Connie (Ken) Wood of Wisconsin Rapids, three grandchildren: Amanda Dees of Madison, Andy and Chelsea Wood , both of Wisconsin Rapids. She is further survived by 2 brothers: Michael Skroch of Torrington, WY and Ken (Lillian) Skroch of Spearfish, SD, 2 sisters: Rita (Wayne) Pourier, also of Spearfish, SD and Rosemarie (Ian) Snyder of Fairfield Bay, AR, 2 sisters-in-law: Margaret Kronforst of Cedar Grove and Marianne Walber of Phoenix, AZ. Dolores is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends in the area.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 16th, 7 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lake Church. Father Jim Vojtik will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the First Reformed Cemetery, Cedar Grove. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 5-7PM.

RAPID CITY - Joseph Sollid, 87, Rapid City, died Friday, May 5, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born July 29, 1918 in Grygla, MN to Halvor and Guina (Tweten) Sollid. He was raised and educated in that area and graduated from high school in Grygla.
He worked at CCC Camps until he entered the US Army on March 19, 1941 and was honorably discharged December 23, 1943. While in the Army, Joe was one of the first Harley Davidson Motorcycle Scouts.
Following his discharge, he worked at the Army Depot, Igloo, SD where he received a Purple Heart. He later moved to Rapid City where he drove a taxi and did carpentry work. He attended NCB and following graduation, was a tax accountant for many years. During this time, he would travel back and forth to Alaska where he worked on the pipeline. He also built and maintained Four-plexes in Rapid City until he retired.
He enjoyed fishing, skiing, swimming, bowling and schottische dancing which he did when he was younger.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Katherine Sollid; a daughter, Loveletta Gibson both of Rapid City; 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a great great-grandchild and a half sister Rosella Keester, Grygla, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Joseph Thomas Sollid, Victor Lee Solid, a graddaughter, Kristi Bell, 3 brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday May 9, 2006 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday May 8, 2006 at the funeral home.

WHEATON - Rheuva Matzke, 84, of Wheaton, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia.
Rheuva was born July 27, 1922 at Onaga, the daughter of Reinhard and Josephine Lolley Wegner.
She graduated from high school in Piedmont, SD and also attended a business college in Rapid City. She joined the Navy in 1942 as a WAVE. She was stationed at the Anacostia Naval Air Station in Washington D.C. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Onaga and a 27-year member of the Les McMinimy American Legion Post No. 181 at Frankfort.
She married Marcellus Matzke August 3, 1946 at Igloo, South Dakota,. They moved back to Wheaton where she was a homemaker.
He survives. Rheuva was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Other survivors include four sons, Rick Matzke and wife Linda, Wheaton, Bill Matzke and wife Ann, Delaware, Ohio, Russ Matzke and wife Mary, Onaga, and Brad Matzke and wife Debbie, Mayetta; one daughter, Lynette Bottom and husband, Steve, Fruita, Colorado; one brother, Argel Wegner and wife Helen, Hanna, Wyoming; one sister, Beverly Williams, Madison, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at New Hope Lutheran Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Onaga Cemetery. Rheuva will lie in state Sunday at the Tessendorf-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., followed by visitation.
