Black Hills Army Depot Commanding Officer, Colonel John R. Bailey, Jr., met with his staff and division chiefs on the depot's first anniversary under the U.S. Army Supply and Maintenance Command. Colonel Bailey said the merging of several technical services, into a single command, was successfully accomplished during this major reorganization of the Army's logistical system.

For twenty years as Black Hills Ordinance Depot, and the past year as Black Hills Army Depot, this 21,000 acre installation with a $3 1/2 million payroll has played a highly important role in Southern Hills economy. BHAD has a military complement of seven officers and seven enlisted men and 545 civilian employees.
