Marceline Mae 'Marcie' Barkley July 2, 1924 - February 13, 2011 Marceline Mae "Marcie" Barkley of Edgemont, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was 86 years old Marceline was born July 2, 1924, north of Mission, to Clemet and Caroline "Lena" (Horst) McCloskey. Her school years were spent in Mobridge and Todd County and after graduating from high school, Marceline moved first to Rapid City and then to Igloo. She worked as a truck driver, driving an Army 6x6 and hauling ammunition to Buckley Field in Denver, Colo., during the war years in the 1940s. She married Byron Hastings in February of 1947, he passed away in 1979. She later married Lester "Bus" Barkley in August of 1991, he passed away in 2004. Together, they ranched on the Barkley ranch near Ardmore. The Barkley Ranch was Marcie and Bus' life. Bus tended the cattle while Marcie tended the sheep - she was a good shepherd! Marcie sold the ranch in 2006 and bought a home in Provo, where she lived until her passing.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Rapid City. She is survived by her son, Byron (Paula) Hastings of Sheridan, Wyo., two daughters, Jacque (Ned) Peterson of Rapid City and Mary Marsh of Edgemont, a step-son, Tom (Jenny) Barkley of Gillette, Wyo., and a step-daughter, Vonna Hlavaka of Henderson, Nev., in addition to her grandchildren, Melody (Dan) Bircher, Klint (Kelly) Peterson, Colleen (Rob) Phillips, Vanessa (Adrian) Hastings-Chavez, Nancy Peterson, Mitch Marsh, Ann Ferber, Lisa (Lee) Tracy, Tim Barkley, Beau Barkley, Katie Barkley, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edgemont with Rev. Duane Duley and Rev. Edgar Bode officiating.
