I am not sure how the cabins in the National Forest program worked but I am sure I will upload the information when I find it. Some of the more famous cabins were Badger Clark's "Badger Hole" and Peter Norbeck's "Valhalla" which I believe are now open to public tours.
Those of us who live in the area know what it is like to spend time in the hills, especially on the hot days we have had this summer (2012). Being used to city living, it would take awhile to be totally comfortable, yet the long time cabin owners like the Rickart, Staley, Shepard group are capable of living in urban areas for most of the year and easily transform to rustic cabin living each summer. I believe Sally Staley is here this summer.
