All veterans interested in purchasing surplus vehicles located at this depot should follow the procedure outlined below, which was reccomended by a representative of the War Assets Administration, Consumer Goods Division, 209 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, Illinois.
1. Obtain a certificate to buy from A. H. Thornton, District Ranger, 310 Policy Holders National Building, Sioux Falls, S. Dak.
2. After the certificate has been received, you should then inspect the vehicle desired in the lot and obtain the description, items number and declaration number from the Stock Control Division. No one will be permitted to inspect the vehicles without a representative from the Property Disposal Branch.
3. Send to A. H. Thornton the above information obtained, requesting that you be placed on the list for the particular vehicle or a similar one. (The Sious Falls Office will then contact the War Assets Administration office at Chicago and request the item be frozen on the declaration, providing someone else has not already requested the same item. If there is a waiting list for the item quoted, it will be necessary to wait your turn to buy. In other words, a veteran located at BHOD.)
4. After the item has been frozen on the declaration, the predetermined price will be furnished you with a notifkcation from the Sioux Falls Office that you can purchase the vehicle rewuested. If you decide the vehicle is not worth the money, then you need not accept. If you turn down the offer, then the next veteran on the list has a chance to buy the vehicle.
5. After being notified that the vehicle is available to you, then a certified check for the amount due is to be forwarded to the Sioux Falls Office.
6. Upon receipt of the Paid Notice of Sale from the Sioux Falls Office in Stock Control, the delivery can be made FOB Igloo, South Dakota. Inquiries as to priorities, availability and prices should be directed to the Sioux Falls Office mentioned above.
The hard ball season got off to a flying start last Sunday when the Igloo team took Edgemont into camp to the tune of 25 to 9. In spite of the cold and the raw wind, a good crowd was on hand for the opening event. It was not, however, a league game. The official season for the Southern Hills League starts next Sunday, when the Igloo team meets Edgemont on the latter's field at 2:00 P. M. The following Sunday, May 19th, Igloo plays Smithwick here at the Depot. There will be 14 league games in all, half of which will be played on the home field.
From the showing our team made against Edgemont, it looks as if we had a really good team. The roster is as follows: Winters (Capt.) 1. f., Jones c. f., Waukazoo r. f., Percy 3rd b., Eastman s. s., Lt. Meuer 2nd b., Kusler 1st b., Piggerstoch p., Krein c., Slim Williams, Manager, McCoy and Hamilton, Coaches. In Sunday's game Piggerstoch struck out ten men in five innngs he worked, and allowed but one hit. If the weatherman will only co-operate, the baseball team will really solve the problem of what to do with Sunday afternoon. A goodly number of Iglooites will doubtless take in next Sunday's game in Edgemont. The league consists of teams from Edgemont, Custer, Hot Springs, Oelrichs, Smithwick, Pine Ridge and Igloo.
